Saving to Recall from the Android share menu

On Android, Recall registers as a share target the moment you install it to the home screen — no Shortcut, no key, no extra step.

Install Recall to your Android home screen from Chrome, and it registers itself as a share target through the web app manifest. From then on, Recall appears in the Android share menu of every app; sharing a link or text to it opens the Save composer pre-filled, and one tap files it.

Step by step

  1. Open Recall in Chrome on Android. Go to recall.flocci.in and sign in with Google.
  2. Add it to the home screen. Use Chrome's menu and choose 'Install app' or 'Add to Home screen'. This registers Recall's web app manifest, which declares the share target.
  3. Share from any app. In YouTube, Instagram, Chrome or Messages, tap Share and pick Recall. The Save composer opens pre-filled with the URL, title and text.
  4. Confirm the save. Recall never auto-saves a shared item — you always see the composer first, so you can add a note or a collection before it lands.

Does Android need a separate app from the Play Store?

No. The installed web app registers as a share target through the manifest, which is the same mechanism a native app uses. A Capacitor-based Android shell also exists and wraps the identical build.

Why does sharing open a composer instead of saving instantly?
