Installing Recall on your phone
Recall installs as a progressive web app on Android and iOS, and also ships native Android and iOS shells built from the identical bundle.
Recall is installable from the browser on both Android and iOS: add it to your home screen and it opens straight into your library at /app, in a standalone window with no browser chrome. Android additionally gets share-sheet capture from the install; iOS gets it through the signed Apple Shortcut.
Step by step
- Android. In Chrome, open the menu and choose Install app. Recall registers as a share target at the same time.
- iOS. In Safari, tap Share and then Add to Home Screen. Then install the signed Shortcut for share-sheet capture.
- Confirm it opens to your library. The installed app starts at /app rather than the marketing page, so it opens straight into your saves.
Questions about this method
Does the installed app work offline?
Recall registers a service worker so it is installable, but that worker deliberately does not cache your library — your saves are always read live rather than from a stale copy.
Will I be logged out every time I open it?
No. Recall caches a non-credential session hint locally so the installed app paints your signed-in state immediately instead of flashing a sign-in screen while the real session check runs.
